    TREATING VARROA IN HONEYBEES

Natural, chemical and drug free, the following is a guide to making your own free treatment to combat the parasitic invader “Varroa Destructor.”

With seven known types of honeybees, only a few have a natural resistance to the parasitic invader Varroa Destructor. This resistance is known as “hygienic response.” Gentle honeybees, like the European bee do not possess this hygienic response naturally and are fooled into seeing these invaders as another bee through the pheromones and smells they produce. Zitavex Foundation has researched these natural behaviors and has discovered a way to allow the bees themselves to repel these parasites.

HOW TO PREPARE A 1 GALLON MIXTURE

Using a new or clean sprayer that has the ability to make a very fine mist is ideal.  A sprayer with an electrical blower and smoke size droplets is preferred.  The hope is to cover every single bee and living space inside the beehive. Remove openings and spray between supers and brood boxes as thoroughly as possible.

    MIX

½ Gallon of honey, local if possible

    ½ Gallon of clean water

    1 tablespoon lemon grass oil

    SPRAY

In the early morning or dusk to ensure as many bees are in the hive as possible. Use between 1 to 2 pints on each hive.  Watch to make sure the mist and droplets come out of all openings. It is better to use too much than not enough.

Allow 24 to 48 hours for the bees to clean each other and the hive. Repeat this process as often as necessary; the bees love the free honey!

  • ROBOTIC BEES (a bad idea)

    ROBOTIC BEES (a bad idea)

Are we ready for a world without bees, without pollinators or insects? Why does it matter? If the insects and pollinators disappear, so to do the flowers.  Yes, robotic bees, machines and human hands can ensure that our apples and cherries get pollinated, but what about everything else.

It is our mission at Zitavex foundation to encourage all continued efforts to save not just honeybees but all insects and pollinators by encouraging a robust medical market for the honey they make, but also for the wild plants and flowers that will disappear without them. What kind of effort does it take to make swarm, armies of robotic bees? Let’s get behind the right future, one where our pollination comes naturally and free.

Robotic BeeOver 70 people scoured Mt. Ashland for a Franklin’s bumble bee as part of the annual Bee Blitz. It was the biggest turnout in the history of the survey, which has taken place in July for over a decade.

After over a decade of searching, researchers don’t know if Franklin’s bumble bee will ever be seen again. Last week, over 70 people searched Mt. Ashland for a specimen as part of the annual Bee Blitz. It was the biggest turnout in the history of the survey, which has taken place in July for over a decade.

Before Franklin’s bumble bee disappeared from the landscape in 2006, it could only be found in five counties between Southwest Oregon and Northern California, which makes it one of the most range-restricted bumblebees in the world. The bee was listed as an endangered species in 2021.

Jeff Everett, the lead biologist for Franklin’s bumble bee and the organizer of the event, said that finding just one specimen of the species would be a major milestone for research and conservation.

“If we can locate Franklin’s on the landscape, we can not only bring more meaningful conservation tools to bear to protect and recover the species, but we can also learn more about why it was here and take some of those lessons and apply them to other at-risk pollinators,” Everett said.

  • In Service to Mankind

    In Service to Mankind

What does the word “humanity” mean to you? Is it about how we treat human beings, or about all creation? What about the animals that help people? Must they be treated “compassionately?” I can only tell you to look at our society’s fruits. Are there laws and people actively engaged in protecting our pets, our farm animals and those creatures in service to mankind? What if I told you the most important animal to human survival was recently slaughtered by the millions in Atlanta; and no one noticed! No one was arrested and no one had to answer to investigators after the incident. Yes, I’m talking about the “the apocalypse” of the Bee (Apis) and Colony Collapse.

If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. –Albert Einstein

    Actual news story

Local beekeeper in Atlanta, Edward Morgan, called more than a dozen people to go to the airport and try to save any bees that were still alive after being stranded on the airport tarmac.

“It’s devastating to see that many dead bees,” Georgia beekeeper Julia Mahood told WABE radio. “Just clumps of dead bees that had no chance because they were left outside in the heat with no food or water and basically got lost in Delta airlines machinery.” McElrea, who runs a business called Sarah’s Alaska Honey, said that she had received previous shipments of honeybees on Delta from Sacramento, California, to Anchorage via Seattle many times. The airline told her that last weekend’s shipment didn’t fit on the plane, so they were rerouted through Atlanta.

McElrea said her supplier in California will replace the shipment, which was worth about $48,000. She said she is hoping Delta provides some help, although she acknowledged that shipping live animals carries risk.

AT ZITAVEX, WE STRIVE TO DO BETTER

One out of every three bites of food are because a bee pollinated a flower. The Honey that bees make for us is also a rich natural health food whose crystals contain some of the most promising medical discoveries in wound and burn care. We at Zitavex foundation are committed to the health and future of mankind and all of God’s creatures. Through innovation and caring, we call on everyone that is paying attention to help us care for and support the bees and all humanity through our discoveries in “honeybee hygiene” and “Biocidal honey” patents. You can help us make a dramatic difference in slowing the loss of all bee species around the world and bring more medical products made from the pure, natural and renewable resource of HONEY.
